Lovers of Indian classical music will be in for a special treat tonight (Tuesday 28 May), when the Grammy Award nominated Amjad Ali Khan Master of the Sarod makes a Middle East debut in the intimate setting of Dubai’s Madinat Theatre.
Ali Khan, regarded as one of India’s greatest musicians with a career spanning 50 years, will play the Sarod at the Souk Madinat Jumeirah, where he will be joined by his sons, Ayaan Ali Khan and Amaan Ali Khan in a live performance celebrating the best of the popular Indian instrument.
The unique evening is sponsored by Porsche Centre Dubai, Al Nabooda Automobiles, as the sole Porsche distributor in Dubai and the Northern Emirates continues its celebrations marking 50 years of the iconic Porsche 911 car.
Taught by his father, the legendary Haafiz Ali Khan, Amjad Ali Khan is the sixth in an uninterrupted lineage of music masters known as the Senia Bangash School. Ali Khan has created many new Ragas, earning him unanimous praise for successfully striking the delicate balance between innovation and respect of a timeless tradition.

Earlier this year, as part of the 50 years of 911 celebrations, Porsche Centre Dubai presented a concert by the Raschèr Saxophone Quartet from Germany, featuring the world premiere of “Straßenversion” (‘street legal’ in English), a composition inspired by road legal version of the Porsche 911 GT1 racing car built in 1997.
