Dubai, UAE, 18 June 2015: Dubai Municipality has honoured Porsche Centre Dubai, Al Nabooda Automobiles LLC, for its continued contribution to the sustainability of the automotive market.
The exclusive Porsche distributor in Dubai and the Northern Emirates has a long-standing partnership with the Dubai government authority, with several initiatives jointly supported in recent years in a bid to reduce the UAE’s carbon footprint.
Recognised specifically for their participation in the latest ‘Car Free Day’ and Environment Exhibition at the start of the year, Vijay Rao, General Manager of Porsche Centre Dubai proudly accepted the award on behalf of the team at Al Nabooda Automobiles in an exclusive awards ceremony on Sunday night at the Hyatt Regency Creek Heights hotel.

By partnering with Dubai Municipality in the annual ‘Car Free Day’, Porsche Centre Dubai showcased how advanced ‘green’ motoring technology can help protect the environment and contribute towards sustainable development.
Visitors to the ‘Car Free Day’ event in February were made aware of some of the recent facts regarding carbon footprint and sustainability, with the world’s first luxury plug-in hybrid, the Panamera S E-Hybrid, playing a starring role in the co-located Environmental Exhibition.
The Panamera S E-Hybrid is an example of how Porsche offers hybrid models as authentic sports cars, resulting in extra performance and efficiency. With 416 horsepower, acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 270 km/h, it is a Porsche Gran Turismo through and through.
A parallel plug-in hybrid model, the Panamera S E-Hybrid can drive considerable distances in all-electric mode, with a range of up to 36 kilometres and an electric driving top speed of 135 km/h. The high-voltage battery is recharged in less than four hours when connected to a conventional household electrical outlet or, whilst driving, through the process of brake energy recovery.
Rao added: “Being involved in awareness campaigns such as ‘Car Free Day’ is part of our commitment to assist government initiatives in the UAE addressing the challenges involved in reducing the country’s carbon footprint.
Further underlining Porsche’s commitment to sustainability, Porsche Centre Dubai recently provided Dubai Police with three new Panamera S E-Hybrids, taking sports car e-mobility performance to new heights.
The delivery of the new hybrid vehicles came after the Dubai Government revealed it was looking at ways to promote eco-friendly vehicles and is considering incentives for electric models. For years, Porsche has been at the forefront of electronic mobility in the performance and luxury class, and through new models continues to push the boundaries of possibility.
“With hybrids across three segments, including the world’s first premium SUV plug-in hybrid, the Cayenne S-E Hybrid, Porsche E-Mobility delivers luxury, high performance cars which are exceptionally practical and designed with the environment in mind,” said Rao.
