Dubai Municipality takes delivery of 10 Volkswagen Golf GTE models

Volkswagen Middle East and Al Nabooda Automobiles, in collaboration with Dubai Municipality, announced the arrival of 10 Volkswagen Golf GTE models in Dubai for one year during a press conference at the Volkswagen Al Nabooda Automobiles showroom on Sheikh Zayed Road.

 H.E. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General, Dubai Municipality was given the key to the first Volkswagen Golf GTE by H.E Khalifa Juma Al Nabooda, Chairman of Al Nabooda Group Companies. Dubai Municipality will trial the 10 Volkswagen Golf GTE models over the course of a year as the first Volkswagen hybrids to explore a long-term home on the roads of the United Arab Emirates.

H.E. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General, Dubai Municipality said, “Dubai aims to become one of the world’s leading sustainable cities by 2020 and wide-scale deployment of electric vehicles is a key aspect to achieving this goal.”

Mr K. Rajaram, Chief Executive Officer of Al Nabooda Automobiles commented, “We hand over the first of 10 Golf GTE vehicles to H.E Lootah – a defining moment for Volkswagen Al Nabooda Automobiles as we begin our pilot. With this milestone we can look to build the future of electric mobility in the region.

The Golf GTE is a dynamic plug-in hybrid vehicle fully capable of navigating the city of Dubai in all-electric mode, or the long commute between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. With the realisation of 50 kilometres in all-electric driving mode, it is able to cover 80 percent of most everyday journeys.
