Volkswagen Cleans the Beach

Until today an urgent tragedy is taking place in the desert, along the beaches, and in the mountains of the UAE. Camels, sheep, goats and cattle, as well as the protected Arabian Onyx, the Sand Gazelles and other wildlife are dying after ingesting plastic just like the albatross birds in the Midway Atoll.

Avoiding waste can be so simple. Simply take your backpack shopping and you avoid (at least) one plastic bag.” says environmental activist David Wernery.

Objective of the campaign:
• To turn words into action – Support our campaign “Think Blue” by doing something important for the environment and therefore the region we live and work in. Raise awareness about pollution and its consequences.

Emirates Marine Environmental Group (EMEG) maintains a coastal sanctuary and reserve on the western border of Dubai. The area is used as a base to develop and organize educational camps for school, community and corporate groups to increase awareness and understanding of the different threats the environment faces. Within these structured programs, EMEG focuses on the cultural heritage of the UAE and incorporates traditional values and skills into each activity.

This beach is the very last remaining natural beach in Dubai and it is a unique place and great experience to go there.
EMEGs mission is to preserve biodiversity in the UAE by: protecting endangered wildlife actively participating in conservation efforts advancing research and promoting environmental education • conserving fragile ecosystems for future generations
