Al Nabooda Automobiles Renews Support For ‘A Safe Ramadan’ Road Safety Charity Initiative

Ramadan road safety campaign by Al Ihsan Charity Association helps UAE community during Iftar

Dubai, UAE, 15 July, 2015:  Al Nabooda Automobiles partnered with Al Ihsan Charity Association for ‘A Safe Ramadan’, the UAE road safety initiative during the Holy Month.

As the exclusive distributor of Porsche, Audi and Volkswagen in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Al Nabooda Automobiles underlined its commitment to the community by becoming the main sponsor of this year’s cause, helping to distribute light meals at traffic intersections before Maghrib prayers.

The objective behind ‘A Safe Ramadan’, known as ‘Ramadan Aman’ in Arabic, is to prevent drivers from speeding during the Ramadan rush hour, when there is an increase in the number of accidents.  Since its launch in 2012, the effort has distributed 40,000 meals in Ajman, Dubai and Sharjah.

Last year, the charity added Abu Dhabi and Fujairah to its network, connecting with the whole of the UAE, meeting its target of 6,800 meals distributed per day and a total of 200,000 meals over the course of the Holy Month.

“Al Ihsan Charity Association has done wonderful work in the last three years with this initiative and we recognise the worthwhile objectives of the campaign, lending our support to help increase the outreach from 2014,” said Mr K. Rajaram, Chief Executive Officer of Al Nabooda Automobiles.

With support from each Police Authority in the UAE, Al Ihsan Charity works with a team of more than 400 volunteers to carry out the cause.

The light meal boxes contain water, juice, dates and Ramadan sweets to provide hydration and a light sugar burst to people who have been fasting throughout the day.  The overriding objective of the initiative is to reduce excessive speed and accidents on the roads, while educating drivers about being safe during Ramadan.

Mr Rajaram added: “The Holy Month of Ramadan is a special time in our community.  Reckless driving and speeding poses massive safety risks.  The ‘Ramadan Aman’ initiative helps UAE drivers to be more cautious on the road and arrive home safely”.
