Dubai, UAE, 30 November, 2015: Staff members from one of the UAE’s largest automotive dealerships are being encouraged to swap their cars for bicycles to form a team that will take part in a new cycle tour across the Emirates.
Al Nabooda Automobiles, the sole distributor of Audi, Porsche and Volkswagen in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, has formed the new cycling team to help colleagues to lead more healthy and active lifestyles. The initial team of 15 people is expected to grow over the next few months to approximately 40 members.
The company is paying all entry fees for the team to take part in the BeWell Cycle Tour UAE, an initiative launched by the Wyndham Hotel Group taking place on 12 February 2016.
The tour will comprise a number of routes running concurrently, one from Abu Dhabi to Dubai (146km), one from Ras Al Khaimah to Dubai (142km) and two shorter routes from Ajman to Dubai (61km and 20km).
The Al Nabooda Automobiles team, made up of colleagues across the organisation from HR, sales, marketing and finance, has now begun training on the vast number of cycling tracks throughout Dubai, including the Wednesday night sessions at Dubai Autodrome.
Samson Chilo, Customer Liaison Advisor at Porsche Centre Dubai, Al Nabooda Automobiles, said, “I was so excited to hear about the new cycling team as I’ve been looking for a group activity to get involved in for some time. This is a chance for me to improve my fitness levels, appreciate a sport that I haven’t experienced properly before and spend time with my colleagues outside of the office. I’m really looking forward to the training and the big event in February, although I am a little nervous!”
In addition to entering a team to take part in the tour, Al Nabooda Automobiles is also supporting the event with a fleet of Audi, Volkswagen and Porsche vehicles which will be used by the BeWell team to ensure the safety of all cyclists throughout the event.
The sponsorship of the initiative is the latest in a long line of community activities and special events which the organisation supports. Audi, Al Nabooda Automobiles in particular is already invested in the development of cycling in the UAE, working with the Dubai Sports Council and Dubai Tour as well as sponsoring the Sky Dive Dubai Cycling Team throughout the year.
